Historic Murfreesboro Club began as a Reading Club in 1887 and incorporated as The Woman's Club of Murfreesboro in 1916. Purchased house at 221 E. College Street and continues its preservation. First library in Murfreesboro until 1948. Continues to provide civic, community outreach, and literacy opportunities to the local community. In 1911 it incorporated as the Murfreesboro Library Association and continued as the lending library in Murfreesboro until 1948. In 1916 it incorporated as The Woman's Club of Murfreesboro and bought the house at 221 E. College Street. Since that time it has continued as a place for women to meet and to reach out to help the community and to preserve the historic Baskette House.
